Christmas YouTube Round Up

Hi everyone! Now that Thanksgiving is over, it feels like Christmas is in full swing! I wanted to write and suggest a few songs on YouTube for Christmas. We love having some new songs to listen to, especially because it means introducing C to Christmas!

A fun, holiday take on “B-I-N-G-O,” this little song is sure to be a favorite! It’s a great introduction to colors (red, white) and letters!

This is a sweet, original song that my preschool students have loved for years! It offers a simple introduction to body parts (head, nose, hand) as well as opportunities to talk about verbs like skating. My preschool students have debated for years if the girl at the end is the snowman’s mom, sister or girlfriend! :)

This song was a new discovery this year, but I really love it! It reminds me of the “Knock Knock, Trick or Treat” songs from Halloween that offer many many language targets. This songs lends itself to “what” questions (What did the boy want for Christmas) and verbs, as each of the wishes involves actions. For children with lower language skills, Super Simple Learning has some great flashcards that you can grab here. I’d use these for a non-verbal way to answer “what” questions-- you can have the child point to the answer instead.

This little song is catchy, cute and the perfect way to work on prepositions (under the tree, etc). I love to strategically pause the song and ask my students questions about where Santa is. Since C is younger, I just try to emphasize the prepositional words. Super Simple Learning has AMAZING preposition cards that tie to this song here. They might appear in my speech room for some kindergarten students next week!

“Ten Little Elves” is a great way to start introducing those numbers 1-10 in song form. It’s short enough to keep even a young child’s attention span, while also teaching and reinforcing counting skills.

Super Simple songs also has some more traditional Christmas songs, too! A YouTube Playlist of these and others that I love here. If you’re not a YouTube fan, you can download the Super Simple Songs - Christmas songs on Amazon music. You can also grab the Super Simple Songs - Christmas DVD on Amazon.

We are always looking for new songs! Leave a comment about some of you and your child’s favorite Christmas Songs.
